Jarom is a linguist with an emphasis on South Asia. He has lived extensively in India both for education and for work assignments, and received a degree in Islamic Studies specializing in Northern India from Indiana University. During his undergraduate career he studied Urdu, Hindi, and Pashto. Following the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan, Jarom worked alongside U.S. forces as a cultural advisor to help resettle Afghans. He was also a resident director for American Councils’ Urdu Flagship Program in Lucknow, India.
